The 5th Annual Overtime Fall 2009
Overtime was more than just one event this year. In the early months of 2009, key youth leaders gathered together to seek the Lord and plan about how this year’s event would unfold. Excitement began to build as leaders realized that Overtime would be more than just one event, but a series of strategically designed moments of impact culminating to life-changing decisions from teenagers throughout our community. Our partners for this event were The Navigators, St. Paul's Collegiate Church and 180 Christian Fellowship. The gospel was presented by our Missions Director, Anthony Laterra and the hope was to help bring unity on campus. A small group of 45 students and leaders gathered and two individuals recommitted their lives to Christ. Our goal with the event was to help facilitate a church plant on campus in the future. November 9, 2007 The 3rd Annual Overtime was a huge success! 425 teens attended the all-night youth event. Hosted by the SECT Youth Leaders Network, the event was represented by churches all over Southeastern Connecticut with churches outside the region beginning to participate. Our featured speaker for the first 3 years was Felix Chivandire, who consistently preached to the teens of our region with fire of God. Last year, 17 teens made first time decisions for Christ! f2fmi's role was primarily promotional. However, our participation helped to build trust with our region for future events together. Specifically, Bobby Bishop provides an explosive opening act with his hip-hop skills; the short film being woven in to his set. Then, Portland-based rockers, The Wrecking set the stage for the gospel with their unique sound. Finally the gospel is presented to teens. f2fmi participated in this tour in 2007 and this was our first event featuring Tom "the Bomb" Miyashiro in the role of the evangelist.
