Prayer for Amy

Hi everyone –

I figured posting this here would be the best way to do this because there are so many inquiries coming in that I cannot keep up. Amy and I have had some time to process the information and share the news with our family. We wanted you to continue to pray for us and wanted to keep you informed. Here’s what we discovered after our last visit to the doctors:

1. Amy’s tumor has grown back to over 2 cm in each direction. There is some necrosis in the center of the tumor, which means that this could be the cancer breaking apart and dying from the inside out from the radiation treatment. However, there is no way to know except to start tracking the tumor on a monthly basis again.

2. Amy’s left brain is swelling. The steroids are getting this under control, but this is still a concern. Hadema is often caused from radiation, which causes Amy to become forgetful and substitue words for others. Amy is healthy in the rest of her body and aware of what is going on. She is overwhelmed with our news. Please pray specifically for the weight that our families and Amy and I all feel.

3. Most troubling of all is a new mass gathering around her shunt. This could be blood collecting as a result of the swelling. However, there is a real possibility that this is cancer that has spread up to her brain through the shunt. We are mortified about this news.

We will go in for a special nuclear scan on Wednesday. Please pray that the findings do not reveal a spreading cancer and that our fears will be put to rest. We are trying our best to defer our emotions until after the results of the scan and consultations with our team of doctors.
